He was born on July 13, 1926, to Hans Christian and Olida Constance (Ruud) Johnson at Osnabrock, N.D. He was raised, attended school and graduated from high school at Osnabrock, N.D., in 1944. He entered the U.S. Navy following high school and served shipboard in the South Pacific theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged in May of 1946 and following his return home, he attended Augsburg College at Minneapolis, Minn.
In 1949, he moved to Wenatchee and went to work for the U.S. Forest Service. He continued working for the Forest Service until retiring in 1981.
He was married to Margaret Hawkes on Sept. 27, 1952, in Wenatchee. They have since continued to make their home in the Wenatchee Valley.
He was a member of the Wenatchee First United Methodist Church, the Apollo Club, Three Lakes Golf and County Club and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 1186 of Wenatchee.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hawkes Johnson, at home; one daughter, Connie Johnson of Saipan, Mariana Islands; three brothers, Ansell Johnson of Seattle, Wendell Johnson of Fargo, N.D., and Wilbur Johnson of Minneapolis, Minn.; and two sisters, Mayme Cole of Tacoma and Florence Korsmo of Moorhead, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Hilma Land and Hazel Hutchinson.
Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
RUEBEN T. JOHNSON - Commemoration services will be held on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Wenatchee First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sandy Brown officiating. The interment will precede the services in Evergreen Memorial Park. Friends who wish may make memorial donations in his name to Home Health and Hospice Care of C.W.H.
