DIXON, Mr. Hugh Bailey--Age 89. August 25, 2005. He made his home in Carthage, TN for over 50 years.
Preceded in death by: parents, Bailey Radford & Iva Lee Dixon; 4 brothers, Voyne, Harley, Clay & W. T. Dixon; and 1 sister, Adele Yeargan.
Survivors: wife, Mrs. Vincey Dixon, Carthage, TN; daughter, Miss Martha Dixon, Hartsville, TN; nephew, Mr. James (Sue) Dixon, Hartsville, TN; 2 nieces, Mrs. Becky Morgan and Mrs. Connie Malone, Hartsville, TN; 3 great-nephews; 1 great-niece; and 1 great-great-niece.
Mr. Dixon began business in 1935 with a general merchandise and gas store, followed by building an International Harvester business in Carthage, TN. He then created Dixon-Stubblefield Limestone Co. and Hugh Dixon Paving.
Mr. Dixon served 10 years in the Tennessee State Legislature and stayed active in local and national politics.
Visitation with the family 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2005 and 11 a.m. until service time Sunday.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Anthony Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2005 conducted by Bro. Charles Gentry. Interment Hartsville Memorial Garden. Anthony Funeral Home, 337 McMurry Blvd., Hartsville, TN.
