OBITUARY:

Rachel Agnes Hoffman was born in Cass county (sic), Nebraska, July 20th, 1860, and passed away August 27, 1926, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jess Carpenter near Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 7 days. She was married to Chales (sic) Hoffman at Plattsmouth, Nebraska, in 1880. He passed away February 15, 1925. To this union were born nine children: Wesley, Ralph, Raymond, Mabel and Mamie were present at the funeral. Four children have passed on before. Besides the children, she leaves one brother, eleven grand children and a host of friends to mourn her departure.

At an early age she united with the Evangelical church, later having united with the Methodist church at Nelson, Nebraska. She was always kind, considerate, nobel and true, and her life was an inspiration to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed, but we rejoice to know that when on the resurrection morning God calls, we shall see her once more, when there will be no parting or sorrow.

The funeral service was held in the Nelson Methodist church Sunday, August 29, at 3:30 p.m. being conducted by the pastor, Vincent R. Beebe, who was assisted by Brother C. Anker Christensen of Superior, who for years has been a close friend of the family. A mixed quartette from the Methodist choir sang comfortingly some of the hymns the departed loved so well. There was a large attendance of loved ones, neighbors and friends. The body was laid to rest in the Nelson cemetery.

A place is vacant in our home,
A voice we loved is still,
A place is vacant in our hearts
That never can be filled.
