Motion Picture Director, Screenwriter. Best known for his comedy films, he shared an Academy Award-nomination for the script of "Profumo di donna" ("Scent of a Woman", 1974). Born in Milan, Italy, he began his career as an assistant director for the 1941 film "Piccolo mondo antico" (Old-Fashioned World) and would later work with such international stars as Vittorio Gassman, Marcello Mastroianni, Sophia Loren, Senta Berger and Ann-Margret. Among his other film credits are, "Anna" (1951), "Belle ma povere" (Poor Girl, Pretty Girl), (1957), "Operazione San Gennaro" (The Treasure of San Gennaro), (1966) and "Mordi e fuggi", (Dirty Weekend), (1973). He was the father of film director Marco Risi.
