PLEASUREVILLE DOWDEN, JOHN INGELS, 80, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Baptist Hospital East, in Louisville. He was the son of the late Jimmie Crutchfield Dowden and Alice Judy Ingels Dowden. He was a member of Pleasureville United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the Board of Trustee's for many years. He was a farmer and a board member of the American Dairy Association, served as chairman of Dutch Tract Cemetery, graduated from Millersburg Military Institute in 1946 and attended the University of Kentucky. He is preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Johanna Dowden and Nevada Dowden; one son, John Ingels Dowden, Jr.; and a brother, J. C. Dowden Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marietta Dowden, of Pleasureville; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Pleasureville United Methodist Church. Rev. Colin Curtis, pastor of Pleasureville United Methodist Church, will officiate, assisted by Rev. Carl Rucker. Burial will be in Pleasureville Cemetery. Honorary bearers include Kevin Adler, Spencer Bond, Don Buchanan, Dr. Esther Costel, Billy Craigmyle, Kim Shaw, Brad Steverson, Lambert Webb, and Roy Weeks. Active bearers include Dr. Mark S. Adams, Samuel M. Adams, Jr., James K. Dowden, Major General Donald C. Storm, Michael Thomas, and Dr. Barry Wainscott. Visitation will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville and Monday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the church. Memorial gifts may be made to the Pleasureville United Methodist Church.
