Clara V. Petty
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ballard Chapel for Clara V. Petty, 94 of Austin, TX and formally of Roswell. Mrs. Petty passed away on May 29, 2008 at an assisted living nursing home. Pastor Robert Holcomb of First Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
Clara was born on June 9, 1913 to Wennie Ship, and Mexie Miller in Vinson, Oklahoma. On December 2, 1934 she married Orvis M. Petty in Vinson, OK. He preceded her in death, as well as two sisters and three brothers. Clara was a graduate of Vinson High School. She was a resident of Roswell and member of First Baptist Church since 1944. She was very active in Sunday school. Clara had worked as a seamstress at Roswell Laundry and Dry Cleaners for many years. She also worked in accounting and as a receptionist for Bordens Dairy. She loved to travel across the United States to visit family and friends. Clara is survived by her son; Jim Petty and his wife Susan of Gilbert, Arizona, granddaughter; Jana Rearick of Mesa, Arizona, grandson; David Petty of Austin, Texas, great-granddaughters; Taylor Scott, and Paige Rearick, great-grandsons; Garrett Wilhelm, and Zane Petty. She is also survived by two sisters; Cora LaHood of Whitter, CA, and Alma Boone of Groves, TX. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ballard Funeral Home and Crematory.
