She was born the youngest of four children to Robert and Nora Harris on March 24, 1917 in Kaysville, Utah. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood in Davis County. She attended Davis High School and graduated from Logan High School. She married her sweetheart, Wayne A. Saxey on November 24, 1935. Her marriage was solemnized in the Oakland Temple in 1972. They made their home in Clearfield, where Maurine enjoyed working as the Clearfield City recorder for many years. They moved to California in 1960 where she served as executive secretary for California State Senator John Begovich. Her greatest joy was being a wonderful homemaker and mother to her children, Diane and Kent; and later to her grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served as a teacher in the Young Women's and Relief Society. She also served as Sunday School secretary. Maurine valued her memberships in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Soroptimist Club. She was a prolific reader and loved to write.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Wayne A. Saxey; and son, Kent Harris Saxey (Judith); son-in-law, Bill Workman (Mary); sister-in-law, Juanita Harris; nephews, J.R. Blood, John Taylor, Dennis Peterson, and Jerry Harris; niece, Valeria Harris; brother and sister-in-law, Sterling and Mildred Rose; and longtime friend, Marge Whitesides. She was the loving grandmother of Dana Bickmore (Steve), Suzanne Putnam (Byron), Curtis Workman (Cindy), Clark Saxey (Nicole), Brandt Saxey (Becky), Sasha Fenton (Ryan), and Brittney Frei (Dave). She has 27 great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother, John Browett Harris; sisters, Rhea Blood and Josephine Taylor; and daughter, Diane Workman.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main Street. Friends and Family may call Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Mortuary.
Interment: Kaysville City Cemetery.
