CLEAR FORK - Carrie Aveline Acord, 78, of Clear Fork, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008, following a long illness. Carrie was a former seamstress for Belcher's Cleaners in Oceana.

Born Feb. 27, 1930, at Crouch's Farm, she was the daughter of the late Valentine Witcher Acord (1899-1964) & Margie Wright-Acord (1908-1996). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hiram M. Acord (1927-2002), and James "Clint" Acord (1928-1977); and two sisters, Emmaline "Emma" Acord-Jasper (Deceased), and Nellie "Mae" Acord-Dalton (1942-2006).

Survivors include three brothers, Raymond Acord and his wife Frances Acord of Dailey, Charles Acord and his wife Flossie Acord of Lynco and Delano "Dean" Acord and his wife Wilma Acord of Roanoke Rapids NC; three sisters, Josephine Acord-Morgan (1932-2012) of Clear Fork, with whom she made her home, Ella "Sue" Acord-Vint-Hatfield of Man and Irene Acord-Reed and her husband Donald Reed of Berea, KY; brother-in-law, Roger Dalton of Huddleston, VA; and sister-in-law, Daphine Acord of Glen Fork. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Evans Memorial Chapel, Oceana, with the Rev. Eddie Aliff Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
