Cordie Torbett Malone
Died Dec 30,1999

Cordie Torbett Malone, 87, of Knoxville, a loving mother, entered into eternal peacewith our Lord and Savior on Dec. 30, 1999 at UT Hospital.
A native of Monroe County for 17 years, a resident of McMinn County for 65 years and resident of Knoxville for the past few years, she was a daughter of the late Lige and Minnie Mitchell Torbett. She was preceded in death byher husband, Millard "Tom" Malone on Feb 10, 1979; six brothers, Fred Torbett, Edward Torbett, Herbert Torbett, Carl Torbett, Luke Torbett and Leslie Torbett; two sisters, Ossie Woody and Bertha Norwood; and one foster brother, Roy Bookout.
She was a former employee of Ridge Textile Company for 26 yearsand had worked for Van Raalte Company.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Bill Thompson of Athens and Tenna and Jerry Webb of Knoxville; two grandsons, Chad Thompson of Athens and Mike Webb of Knoxville; one granddaughter, Mrs. Larry (Melissa) Eaton of Athens; one great granddaughter, LeAnn Eaton of Athens; one step great grandson, Nikki Eaton of Athens; two brothers, and sisters-in-law, Andrew and Hilda Torbett of Lisbon, Conn., and Ulyss and Nola B Torbett of Lakeland, Fla.; four siters-in-law, Inez Torbett, Marguerite Torbett and Anna B Bookout, all of Athens and Jewell Torbett of Cleveland; one brother -in-law, Oral Norwood of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Sunday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev Cecil McDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Sunrise Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandson, Larry Eaton and nephews, Wayne Norwood, Steve Torbett, Bill Torbett, PAt Torbett, Jimmy Lawson and Terry Torbett.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
