She attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Maryland, and was a descendant of pioneers who settled in Oregon during the 1860s. She also attended Monticello Seminary in Illinois and was a 1939 graduate of Edgewood Park Junior College, and later attended the University of Oregon.
Preceded in death by husbands, Lt. Franklin S. Allen, Jr., U.S.A.A.C., whom she married in 1940, and Lt. Col. Edwin C. Frost, U.S.A.F., whom she married in 1975.
Survivors include children, Jeanne Louise Newell, McLean, VA, Franklin S. Allen III, both of McLean, VA, Judith Nicklin Scholtz, Falls Church, VA, Barbara June Allen, Alexandria, VA, and Ralph Maurice Allen, Sterling, VA; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
