Eliza was the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Bassett) Porter. She was deaf and dumb (1880 census). In 1850 she was living with her parents in Farmington, Fulton, IL. In 1860 she was living with her father and her stepmother, Sarah, in Farmington, IL. In Harry Porter's will (1865) he appointed Eliza's brother John R. Porter her guardian. In 1870 Eliza was living with her brother John R. Porter and his family in Omaha, Douglas, NB. In 1880 Eliza was living with her sister Clarissa Deuel and her husband in Farmington, Fulton, IL. At the time of her death (1892) Eliza was living with her brother John and his wife Jane in Los Angeles, CA.
