Born Dec. 4, 1946, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of Irvin E. and Doris J. Eshelman Myers of Greencastle, Pa.
She graduated as salutatorian in 1964 from Greencastle-Antrim High School. She earned a bachelor's degree from Oral Roberts University in 1969, a master's degree from the University of Tulsa in 1971, and a doctorate from Oklahoma State University in 1974.
She was an associate professor at Miami University of Ohio's department of sociology, gerontology and anthropology since 1974, where she was named teacher of the year in 1995.
She had attended Four Square Gospel Church in Greencastle.
She represented Ohio for the National Trust for Historic Preservation, worked on preserving more than 20 historic homes in Hamilton and was president of the Dayton Lane Historic Area. She was named the city's Citizen of the Year in 1995.
She lectured in the Oxford, Ohio, area and throughout the greater Cincinnati area on historic preservation.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Beverly Hahn of Greencastle, and Bonita Goshorn of Chambersburg; one brother, Laurent Myers of Rockville, Md.; two nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by one niece.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, Greencastle. The Revs. Dennis C. Sproull and Glen Hartman will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
There will be no public viewing; the family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hamilton Community Foundation, c/o Sherry Corbett Fountain Fund, 319 N. 3rd St., Hamilton, OH 45011.
