Confederate officer. Major of the 1st Virginia Infantry.

Last in the Class of 1860 at VMI, he joined the First Regiment of Virginia Infantry as a sergeant 26 April 1861. He was elected captain in 1862. He was wounded at Seven Pines and again in Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg. He briefly commanded his regiment there between the time Colonel Williams was killed and his own wounding. He was appointed major in August, 1863. Captured 6 April 1865 at Sayler's Creek and held at Johnson's Island. Post war, he was a railroad man and druggist.
