Mrs. Nancy Virginia Norris died at her home, 4 miles east of Urich, March 18th, with the infirmities of old age. Her maiden name was Nancy Virginia Beck and she was born in Cumberland county, Ky., Oct. 7, 1835. There she was united in marriage with Wm. A. Norris in Kentucky, Oct. 6, 1853. He preceded her to the Heavenly Home, Nov. 24, 1907. Nine children were given to this union, all of whom survive as follows: J. N. C., Chiswell and Carmel Norris, near Urich; Mrs. Lina Lotspeich, Oklahoma; Mrs. Kate Redford, Mrs. John Hendrick, Mrs. Will Hendrick, Mrs. F. A. Moore, all of near Urich; Mrs. Kirg Redford, Bates county. her daughter, Mrs. Moore and husband resided on the home place and tenderly cared for her during her declining years. All of her children were at her bedside during the last illness. She also leaves 19 living grandchildren and 16 living great-grandchildren. She was one of the charter members of the Hartwell Baptist church, there being only two other living members - Jack Hall and wife. Deceased was a fine neighbor and everybody's friend. She was a wonderful mother, who with a courageous spirit and a prayerful heart guided the footsteps of her children in the paths of righteousness. She practiced her Christianity every day of her life in such a manner that hers was an inspiration to all. She was both loved and admired by all who knew her. By her death we have lost one of the pioneer mothers, as she moved with her husband to this county, March 15, 1861, on the place where she died. Funeral services were Sunday afternoon. Interment in the Norris cemetery. There was a large crowd present to pay their last respects to deceased. The pall bearers were grandsons as follows: Alpha Redford, Noah Redford, Madison Hendrick, Brooksy Hendrick, Jack Hall, Edgar Norris
