Royalty. Born the older of the two children of Wladyslav II, King of Bohemia, Hungary and Croatia and his third wife Anne de Foix. Following a contract from 1515 between King Wladyslaw and Emperor Maximilian I, the king's children and the emperor's grandchildren, Ferdinand and Maria, were married to each other. Annas and Ferdinands wedding was celebrated in 1521 in Linz. After her brother's death in 1526, Ferdinand became King of Hungary and Bohemia. She is described as pious, charitable and intelligent (she spoke five languages) and had the complete trust of her husband. The marriage seems to have been very happy as no mention of a mistress of Ferdinand was ever made. The couple took care of their children themselves and, instead of employing private tutors, sent them to a public school in Innsbruck. Anna died after giving birth to her fifteenth child, Johanna.
