Homer F. Wilson, 84, of Riceville, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a member of Riceville United Methodist Church and was also a dairy farmer. A son of the late Robert Melvin and Louie Bell Guffey Wilson, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Cooter Wilson, on March 13, 1970; two sisters, Georgia Bell Wilson and Rosa Lee Wilson; and one brother, Edgar Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Newman White Wilson of Riceville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lonnie and Rita Wilson of Dahlonega, Ga., and Sam and Sharon Wilson of Riceville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Benny Buchanan and Janie and Bill Hicks, all of Riceville; one sister, Rachel McGrew of Roseville, Mich.; two brothers, Charles "Wham" Wilson of Athens and Thomas "Junior" Wilson of Chattanooga; one half-brother, Robert Haire of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren, Shawn Wilson, Seth Wilson, Eric Wilson, April Norton, Jeannie Blair, Jennifer Trueblood, Amanda Walden, Ginger Buckner, Scott Edgemon and Kristie Linkous; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Oran Creasman officiating. Burial will be in Riceville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Wilson, Seth Wilson, Shane Wilson, Scott Edgemon, Bill Hicks, Bill Blair and Sean Trueblood. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Shamblin, Raymond Sliger, Ross Shamblin, Landon Boring, Frank Shamblin, Marvin Powell, Charlie Grant and Don Nolen.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
