Henry Charles "Chuck" Harbry passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024, at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, Illinois. He was born on February 3, 1924, in Highland Park, Michigan. His family relocated to St. Louis, Missouri and then to Edwardsville, Illinois where Chuck grew up.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and was discharged at the end of WWII. Chuck recently received Quilts of Valor from both the local VFW and American Legion Posts.
He married Dorothy Sue Clark on March 1, 1947. Both he and Dorothy worked for the US Government as Civil Servants. She preceded him in death on December 3, 1993. Chuck relocated to Fort Walton Beach, Florida in 1995 where he met Rosemary Hellmann. He enjoyed Florida life and golfing at the local Air Force base and socializing with Snowbird friends each winter. They relocated to Eden Village Retirement Center in Glen Carbon, Illinois in 2016. Chuck is survived by Rosemary with whom he spent 29 years and her daughter, Donna Robinson and her family of Destin, Florida.
He is also survived by his sons, Mike (Janet) of Blue Eye, Missouri, Dennis (Debbie) of Edwardsville, Illinois, Dean (Janet) of Atlanta, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Kara Lynne, Leah Barrett, Christie Keen, Bruce Harbry, Ryan Harbry, Liam Harbry, Erin O'Connor and Megan Fischer; nineteen great grandchildren and a great nephew, James Halamicek of St. Louis, Missouri.
On August 6, 2024, family members gathered at Irwin Chapel in Glen Carbon for sharing memories and services there and at the graveside at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville where Chuck joined his wife, Dottie. Pallbearers: Adam Gulotta, Caden Barrett, Liam Harbry, Liam Keen, Noah Keen, Ryan Harbry.
Thanks to Reverend John C. Hembruch of First Presbyterian Church, where Chuck was a lifelong member, for officiating the services and those who hosted a luncheon at the church.
