Brenda Wylie Davenport



Mrs. Brenda Wylie Davenport, age 57, of Marion, N.C. passed away on Monday, June 2, 2008 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville.

A native of McDowell County, Brenda was born on October 10, 1950 to the late Preston Orville Wylie and Julia Cheek Wylie of Marion.

She was a member of Garden Creek Baptist Church and was a faithful volunteer with the American Lung Association and The March of Dimes. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was also a mother to everyone who knew her and her smile will live on in the hearts of all her family and friends.

In addition to her mother, Brenda is survived by her husband of 35 years, Steve Mitchell Davenport; three children, Jeffery Dean Bost and his wife Kathy of Gatlinburg, TN, Steve Mitchell Davenport, Jr. and his wife Rachel of Glenwood and Heather Davenport Watson and her husband Clent of Pineola; two sisters, Joan Jackson and her husband Charles of Greensboro and Martha Wylie Morgan and her husband Kenny of Marion; and six grandchildren, Travis, Tyler, Jarod, Caleb, Camryn, Caden and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate her life and homegoing will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Revs. Allen McKinney, Gerald Stines and Terry Cheek officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in McDowell Memorial Park.
