Ida was involved in an automobile accident on 15 July 1930. Her mother, grandmother, and two siblings all emerged with just minor injuries, but Ida sustained a traumatic injury that ruptured her right kidney. She received an operation on 23 August 1930, but a month and a half after the accident, she passed away as a result of hemorrhage and an infected hematoma of the kidney.
