Maxine was born June 29, 1918, in Green City, Mo. She married Millard Chapman on July 4, 1937, in Kirksville, Mo. In the early 1950s, Millard and Maxine moved to San Antonio, where Maxine worked as a hairdresser for Joske's. In 1961, Maxine and Millard returned to Missouri, where Maxine co-owned the La Vogue dress shop on the square in Kirksville for many years. Maxine and Millard moved to Fort Worth in 1986 to be close to their son and grandchildren, whom Maxine dearly loved. "Grammy" will be deeply missed by her family.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Chapman; sister, Anna Beatrice Long; and brother, Capt. Wendell Long.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Barton House and the nurses at Plaza Medical Center, sixth floor for their wonderful care.
Survivors: Son, Dr. John Chapman and wife, Susan, of Fort Worth; grandson, Matthew Chapman and wife, Zoe, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; granddaughters, Penelope Chapman of Sacramento, Calif., and Christine Chapman and Michelle Chapman of Fort Worth; nephew, Charles Chapman of Dallas; and nieces, Carol Hoeman of Florissant, Mo., and Linda Whitney of Napierville, Ill.
