AERM2, US Navy, WWII. Son of John W Akers and Mary/Marie Louise Kilbane Akers.

John "Jack'' Kilbane Akers, age 80, passed away peacefully December 7th surrounded by his family. Jack was a graduate of West High School in Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota where he was a happy member of Delta Kappa Epsilon. In 1942 he enlisted in the US Navy and served 4 years as Aerographer on the SS Hancock and the SS New Jersey, the Flag Ship of Admiral Halsey, Commander of the Pacific Fleet. Jack became a commercial real estate broker, and an active member of the Mpls Board of Realtors for 40 years before retiring. He will be remembered for his friendly smile and his blue eyes, love of reading, political involvement and lifelong student of history. Jack was a gentle man and independent spirit.
Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Donna Rae; their son, John Leonard; and their daughter, Alison Ann Roach (Richard) of Chicago.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, December 11th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1917 Logan Ave. S. where Jack was a lifelong member and former member of the Vestry. Memorials to St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Washburn-McReavy Welander Quist 612-377-2203
