Mrs. Lura Alcorn, 83, Dies Today
Mrs. Lura (Lute) Abbott Alcorn, 83, widow of James Alcorn, died today at Bartholomew county hospital here following a 5-year illness. She lived at 403 Market street in Hope.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Barkes and Inlow funeral home by Dr. Harold Mohler. Burial will be at Hope Moravian cemetery. Persons may call 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Born in Hope Oct. 11, 1884, Mrs. Alcorn was the daughter of Major and Hannah Hodson Abbott. She was married in 1946 to James Alcorn who died in 1961.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Effie Dixon of 2107 Newton street. A brother, William Abbott, died in 1959.
