Glenda "Carolyn" Jernigan Spivey McLean, 67, of Jay, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children, family and friends, at a local hospital in Pensacola, FL on Saturday, May 31, 2008.
Carolyn McLean was born in Pensacola, FL, on March 8, 1941 and lived in the Pensacola area for most of her lifetime. Carolyn, or simply "Granny", was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. She loved to fish, garden and spend time with her family and her many grandchildren.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Paul Spivey, Cole Spivey, Gary Spivey and his wife Tina, Lori Spivey, Wade Spivey and his wife Anne, sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Carolyn is also survived by siblings, Susie Plumb, Donny Jernigan, Doug Jernigan, Sadie Horton, Gloria Shaddix and Caffie Tabor, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband Jackie McLean. Carolyn is also predeceased by her father, Maxie Wilton Jernigan and mother, Annie Young Jernigan; her brothers Buddy Jernigan and Cecil Jernigan; and her daughter, Darlene Spivey Kindred.
Her friends are invited to join us in celebrating her life on Wednesday, June 4, at Jay Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Howard of Heritage Baptist Church, followed by interment at Whitmire Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
