Arthur Columbus Davis, 88, of 1175 Fish Pond Road, Chuckey, died Friday, 17 Jul 2009 at his residence.
He was a native of Flag Pond, Unicoi County, son of the late Manning S. and Emma Sparks Davis. Arthur was a carpet installer and member of the Cherokee Mountain Baptist Church. He attended the Open Door Tabernacle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Oneida Shockley Davis in 1993; a son, Don Davis; six brothers, Fred, Charlie, David, Jr., Elroy, Tom and Swingle; a sister, Nancy Vance.
Survivors include: a daughter, and son-in-law, Jean and Paul Greene of Jonesborough; a daughter-in-law, Nola Davis of Chuckey; eight grandchildren, Allen Greene, Michael Greene, Gary Greene, Bobby Greene, Arthur R. Davis, Cynthia Jennings, Felita Reed and Ray Davis; twenty great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, 19 Jul 2009 at 8:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris-Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Richard Tittle and Rev. Brad Willis. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at eight. A committal service will be conducted on Monday, 20 Jul 2009 at the Cherokee Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be: Larry Jennings, Jerry Waites, Daryl Wainscott and Mike Reed. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Monday by 10:15 a.m. to leave in procession to the cemetery.
