Thomas was born in Marion, Ohio Jan. 9,1945, a son of the late Cletus Uhl and Marguerite Uhl, who survives in Marion. He was a faculty member of South Amherst High School, teaching mathematics and computer science, and had been a teacher and coach with New London High School. Mr. Uhl as a 1963 Ridgedale High School graduate, graduated from Rio Brande College and earned his master's degree from Kent State University. Also surviving are his wife, the former Diana Tripp; a daughter and son, Leanne and Brad, both at home; three sisters, Betty Bishop, Hebron, Peggy Richie, Marion and Rosemary Boblenz, Lexington, Ky; and two brothers, Cletus and Larry Uhl, both Marion. A brother, Richard died in 1944.
