Daughter of William Gibson Rook (1858-1934) & Mary Agnes Thorington (1866-1934), Maud was born in Madison, Lake, SD. Maud first married farmer Ben Thomas Corbin abt 1901. They had children William J. (1901-1968) [Wm. signed her death certificate], Daisy (1904-1976), & Vernie (1908-1936) and lived in Farmington Twp,, Lake Co., SD by 1910. By 1920, however, she had moved in with her sister Hazel & husband Wm. F Hamm & two children in Wellington, Ohio. She was working as a rim roller in a rubber factory. In November 1930 she married Henry Matie. She met & married Robert L. Charters next in the 1930s, and then later about 1941 married Thomas J. Sheldon (1883-1964). Her parents are buried in Brighton Township Cemetery as well.
