Dorris Blanche Manning (nee Dumke) age 82, of Wellington, died at the Elms Retirement Village in Wellington, Sunday morning, March 18, 2007, after a short illness. She was born November 24, 1924 in Cleveland, daughter of the late, Eric & Louise (Schmidt) Dumke, Sr. She lived most of her life in the Brighton Township area.

Mrs. Manning graduated in 1942 from Wellington High School, she had worked as a cashier at the former Kroger Store in Wellington. She was a devoted foster parent who helped raise over 60 foster and neighbor children. Dorris was a member of the Brighton United Methodist Church and a girl scout leader. She was renown for cake making. She loved crocheting, sewing and her flower garden.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Mark L. Manning; 4 sisters, Edna Hill of Wellington, Eleanor Repp of Ashland, Elsie Hammond of Lorain and Elizabeth Gemmel of Norwalk; 2 brothers, Eric Dumke, Jr. of Las Vegas and Arthur Dumke of Wellington. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Betty Jane Dumke in infancy, Thelma Neilson and Elaine Hovanitz.

A memorial service for Mrs. Manning and a funeral service for Mr. Manning will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12 2007 at the Brighton United Methodist Church, 51011 State Rte 18, Wellington.
