Howard Herman Hall was born on September 1844, in Ohio, as the third of eight children to Avery and Elizabeth A. (Northrop) Hall, and he died on 5 Mar 1927 in Elyria, Lorain County, Ohio. He married Anice Marilla Gillett on Dec 1866 in Lorain County, Ohio, and together they had one son: Charles M.
He enlisted in the Twelfth Ohio Volunteer Calvary on October 13, 1863. He served with the Army in the Civil War until 1865 when he was mustered out with the Regiment on December 15, 1865
