He was born Jan. 3, 1932 in Saville Twp. to the late James A. and Irene (Paden) Trout.
He was retired from Conrail; a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict; a member of Incarnation United Church of Christ, Social Order of Owls, American Legion Post 177 and VFW Post 34, all of Newport, and United Transportation Union; and enjoyed hunting and gardening.
Surviving are his wife, Gay Lightner Trout; a son, Randy W. of Norfolk, Va.; a daughter, Cindy E. Trout of Newport; a brother, Leonard M. of New Bloomfielad; a sister, Janet L. Bailey of Shermans Dale; and a grandson, Trevor J. Trout of Norfolk.
Services were held April 7 in his church with the Rev. A.O. McGill officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.
