On April 18, 1984 New Castle County Police Corporal Robert E. Zakrzewski, died of an apparent heart attack. Cpl. Zakrzewski was a member of the New Castle County Police since 1968, serving in the Patrol and Criminal Investigation Divisions. He was also assigned to the Public Information Center.
Cpl. Zakrzewski had been commended by the State Attorney General’s Office for his investigative work and by the FBI for capturing two federal fugitives. Before becoming a police officer Zakrzewski was a member of the U.S. Air Force.
Robert was survived by his wife, Elaine; two sons, Robert and Michael, daughter Michele, and parents Joseph and Margaret.
