Willie Ray "Bill" Byington, 63, Kingsport, passed away Tuesday evening, May 27, 2008 at James H. Quillen V. A. Medical Center.

Bill was born in Kingsport where he had lived his entire life and a graduate of Sullivan High School Class of 64. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corp, serving in Vietnam and a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW. Bill was a truck driver, driving for Mason Dixon Truck Lines and he retired from Yellow Transportation. Bill enjoyed working with his horses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie "Herb" Byington and Edith Crawford Byington; brother, Roy E. Byington; and sister, Dessie B. Bowser.

Survivors include his daughter, who he loved dearly, Tory B. Waye, Kingsport; two very special granddaughters, Baylee Katlyn Waye and Rylee Grace Waye; three special sisters, Lyda Littleton and husband Herbert, Iva Dykes, Betty Mullenix and husband Jerry, all of Kingsport; special great-nephew, Caleb Elliott; very special niece, Kimberly Elliott and husband Travis, Kingsport; special former son-in-law, Billy Waye, Kingsport; a special friend, Ivah Henry; and special cousin, Joey Sam Crawford.

Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch.

Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch with Pastor Mike Stout and Rev. Bud Malone officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military rites by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Mullenix, Herbert Littleton, Andy Elliott, Travis Elliott, Darryl Elliott, Randy Henry, and Ritchie Henry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Grissom, Wayland Childress, I. K. Collier, Glen Salyers, Tom Lawson, Harold Quillen, Ed Boochard, and Charlie Smith.
