Wife of CHARLES D. PECK

Bluefield Evening Leader, Bluefield, West Virginia

Saturday, May 23, 1908, page 4

Mrs C D Peck, the aged mother of John K Peck, a former resident of this city and its first mayor, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs Maggie Woods, wife of Judge Hugh G Woods, at Princeton. Mrs Peck had been in feeble health all the winter and spring, nevertheless her death was a great surprise to her friends, as she had appeared to be in her usual health up to within a few hours of her death. Her death was due to old age and general debility. Her age was unknown to our reporter, but she was almost if not quite 80 years of age. Mrs Peck had been a member of the Presbyterian church since her girlhood and lived as a Christian should. One of her daughters, Mrs Fulton, is a Presbyterian missionary in Japan, and will be remembered by many people here as the returned missionary who visited her with her husband and children a few months ago. Another daughter is Mrs W D McClaugherty, of Princeton.

The remains were taken this morning to the old Peck burying ground near Staffordsville, Giles county, Virginia.
