JOHN J. H. TRUBY
Leechburg, January 28- John J. H. Truby, aged 69 years, for many years a leading merchant of Armstrong county and a widely known Civil War veteran is dead at the family home here. He served during the war in Pennsylvania calvary regiment, was captured at the battle of the Wilderness and confined for 10 months in Andersonville prison. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and of the Association of Prisoners of the Civil War, the Royal Areanum and a member of Heberon Evangelical Lutheran Church of Leechburg. He is survived by his widow, nee Malinda Bowser, three sons, Tyson, John and Paul Truby, and two daughters, Catherine C., wife of Frank I Gosser, of Pittsburg, and Miss Rena Truby, of Leechburg.

Inscription

The marker comment for John should be changed from "COM 2nd PA CAV" to "Co "M" 2nd PA CAV" properly listing his unit in the civil war as Company "M" 2nd Pennsylvania Calvary/59th Regiment. Among other battles and skirmishes John survived three days at Gettysburg PA. He served his company as a private at Gettysburg.
