Vella was born November 21, 1915, in Laurel, Mississippi, to J.D. Holifield and Lillie Waters.
She married Marow Beard, and they were blessed with three children.
Marow and Vella moved to the Gila Valley in 1952 from Ohio. Marow passed away September 22, 1997.
Vella was a member of the Emblem Club and a member of the First Christian Church.
She loved her family and was honored to be a wife and mother.
Memorial services were Thursday, May 11, 2006 at the First Christian Church on Highway 191 in Safford, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marow, three brothers, three sisters and two grandsons, Jeffery Moore and Antonio Alva.
Vella is survived by her daughters, Marketta (Mike) Alva of Thatcher and Nita (Jim) Martin of Alpine, Arizona; son, Russell (Jo) Beard of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Rocky (Laura) Alva, Vikki (Guy) Norton, PJ (Candy) Martin and Lynn (Richard) Nyberg; four great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church or the Mt. Graham Hospice.
Arrangements were en-trusted to Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
