Joseph Robert "Bob" Ziebarth was born in Dickinson, North Dakota on March 26, 1917, son of Joseph Nicholas Ziebarth and Nellie Catherine Henderson Ziebarth. He grew up in Ash Cooley, Fallon, Montana, near Baker.
Bob married Mary Helen Loran in Baker Montana on September 4, 1938. Their first child, Joseph Loran "Joe" Ziebarth was born in Baker, Montana in February of 1939
In 1940, they left Baker, moving west in search of higher paying jobs. Bob could not serve in the armed forces because he had suffered rheumatic fever when he was younger, which gave him an enlarged heart. They first settled in Entiat, Washington for two years, working in the orchards. Later, Bob found better paying jobs in Seattle working in the shipyards, and moved there. Eventually they ended up residing in an area known as Riverton Heights, which is just south of Seattle. They had three more children, Catherine Ann "Cathy", Sharon Louise "Sherry", and James Arthur "Jim". Bob worked in several shipyards and steel shops as a welder and fitter foreman. He suffered a heart attack at work and died in Seattle on May 26, 1971, at the age of 54. He is buried in the Entiat Cemetery.
