Mrs. Hazel Yount Dies
Mrs. Hazel E. Yount, longtime resident of this vicinity, died at 6:25 p.m., Tuesday in Mt. Carmel hospital after being admitted the same day.
Mrs. Yount was born February 23, 1898 in Vernon County, the daughter of James and Florence Hamilton, pioneer settlers of Barton County. Her husband died November 18, 1964 in Liberal.
After leaving the farm in the Barton City neighborhood, Mr. and Mrs. Yount moved to Pittsburg, later coming to Liberal, where they purchased a home on north Main street.
Survivors include two sons, Leonard Gaston, Santa Clara Calif., and Leo Gaston, Fairless Hills, Pa.; one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Zimmerman, Elmhurst, Ill.; three step-sons, James Yount, Tampa, Fla, Gerald Yount, Chanute and T.D. Yount Liberal; three brothers, Lester Hamilton, Farmersville, Calif., Richard Hamilton, Grundy Center, Ia., and Alvin Hamilton, San Bruno, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Hallie Scalet, Pittsburg, Mrs. Elsie Ables, Gundy Center, Ia., Mrs. Emma Kinder, Phoenix. Ariz., and Mrs. Marie Hightower, Pittsburg; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Verdella Methodist church with the Rev. Richard Talbott officiating. Arrangements are under direction of the Berkey
