Graduated 1888 Lincoln University, Pennsylvania. 1890 valedictorian graduate of Law, Northwestern University. Assistant Attorney General of Illinois in 1891. Major of 8th Infantry Illiois, Spanish- American War in Cuba. Colonel of Illinois 370th Infantry WWI in France 1917. First Black-American soldier to rise above rank of Colonel in 1918 when promoted to Brigadier-General. Denison retired military in 1922.
