Emery A. LeBlanc, 84 Was U.S. veteran; enjoyed time with family
FITCHBURG - Emery A. LeBlanc, 84, of 26 Elmwood Ave., died Friday, April 18, 2008, in his home, after an illness.
He was born on May 24, 1923, in Fitchburg, the son of the late Blair and Basilice LeBlanc and has lived in Fitchburg all his life.
Mr. LeBlanc worked for American Can Company for 35 years before his retirement. He acted as union treasurer, and later was a member and treasurer of the Retirees Club. After retiring, he worked as a courier for TD Bank North.
He joined the United States Army Air Corps in 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. During his service, he obtained the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal.
He was a member of St. Joseph Parish, the American Legion Post 429, the Knights of Columbus Council 99, the St. Joseph Club, and the Westminster Country Club. He enjoyed his family, playing cards, crossword puzzles, and traveling.
Mr. LeBlanc leaves his wife of 62 years, Claire (Normandin) LeBlanc; his son, Gary LeBlanc and his wife, Donna, of Fitchburg; his two daughters, Carol Lizotte, wife of the late David Lizotte of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Susan Peters and her husband, James, of Leominster; six grandchildren, Scott Lizotte and Mark Lizotte, both of Pittsburgh, Pa., Thomas LeBlanc of Westminster, Michele Roy of Fitchburg, and Eric Peters and Kim Peters, both of Leominster; three great-grandchildren, Alex and Christopher Lizotte and David Fenway Roy; two brothers, Joseph LeBlanc and his wife, Dorilla and Pete LeBlanc and his wife, Rita, all of Fitchburg; three sisters, Emelia Bourque and her husband, George and Yvonne LeBlanc, all of Fitchburg, and Ann Croteau and her husband, Gerry of Fitchburg and Florida. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ernest and Armand LeBlanc.
