Mrs. J.J. Wilson Dies Suddenly Friday Afternoon
Funeral Services Are Held at Baptist Church; Interment at Fairview
Funeral services for Mrs. Jodie J. Wilson, 72, a resident of Memphis for more than a quarter of a century, was held at the First Baptist Church Saturday afternoon. Rev. J. Wm. Mason, local pastor, conducted the services, assisted by Rev. W.T. Rouse of Denton, teacher of Bible at both North Texas State Teachers College and T.S.C.W. in that city.
Mrs. Wilson died suddenly shortly after noon Friday at her home at 503 South 9th street. She was 72 years and 2 months old. Cause of her death was heart failure.
She was buried Saturday afternoon at Fairview Cemetery, with King's Mortuary in charge of the rites.
Survivors include four children; Tom and Ed Wilson of Memphis, J.Frank Wilson of Dallas, and Mrs. Earl Allen of this city; and seven grandchildren, J. Frank Jr., Martha and Janet Allen, and Marion Sue, Barbara Jo, Marjorie, and Elizabeth Wilson.
Mrs. Wilson was born in the state of Arkansas on December 9, 1866, and moved with her family to Texas at an early age. She lived in Navarro County near Barry, where she was married to J.J. Wilson on January 18 1894.
She had been a member of the Baptist Church since childhood and had belonged to the First Baptist Church in this city for a number of years. She was active in the church work and was an active leader in the Woman's Missionary Society.
Pall bearers for the services here Saturday were T.M. Harrison, M.G. Tarver, Hayden Goodnight, Dick Watson, Don Wright,Sam Hamilton, Hal Goodnight, and Howard Randal.
Out-of-town relativse present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. E.Cole of Ropesville, Mr. and Mrs. G.S. Barnes of Syn and Mrs. Ward Perryman and Gertrude Perryman of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A niece, Mrs. Willie Wilson had been staying with Mrs. Wilson for several months.
