She was born April 9, 1936, in Iron Mountain, Mich., the daughter of Elmer and Hilda Hamblen Bruso. She married Thomas D. Blan on Jan. 1, 1955, in Decatur. He died Jan. 7, 2000.
Surviving are her children, Patricia Nolan, Normal; Tina Bounds, Bloomington; and Tom (Lisa) Blan, Normal; nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris), Wes (Jamie), Kyle (Becky), Matt, Ketra, Cain, Brooke, Zachery and Ben; four great-grandchildren, Alyx, Emilie, Jacob and Trevor; six siblings, Marie Nelson, Mary Bruso, Harold (Sandy) Bruso, Elmer (Charlotte) Bruso, Helene (Ray) Schroll and Thell Hoye; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Geraldine Blan, and her parents.
Cele, along with her husband, owned and operated several businesses in Normal, including Specialty House Restaurant, University Liquors, Special-T's Party Corner and Amore's. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bloomington, and served as a eucharistic minister. She was also a member of the St. Anne Society, the bereavement committee and was active in Cursillo.
Cele loved to shop, garden and cook and was especially fond of her pets, Kringle and Rusty. Her No. 1 priority was her family, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
