OBITUARY - BRISTOL COURIER, MARCH 6, 2003

Carl Hampton Collin
Carl Hampton Collin, 82, of 709 Alabama St., Bristol, Tenn., went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 4, 2003, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mr. Collin was a very loving husband, father grandfather, great-grandfather and a good friend to many. He was born in Sullivan County to the late Christopher and Celia Collin. Mr. Collin had lived all of his life in the Bristol area and retired from Tickle Brothers working as a sign builder. He was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle and occasionally visited Liberty Baptist Church. Mr. Collin was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and in the New Guinea Luzon Battle. He was an antiaircraft machine gunner 605, and a rifle marksman. Mr. Collin received the following decorations and citations while in the Army, American Theater, Asiatic-Pacific Theater, Philippine Liberation, Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Collin was preceded in death by one son, Carl Edward"Eddie" Collin; two brothers, Lynn Collin and Morris Collin; and two sisters Ruby Collin Sexton and Myrtle Collin.
Mr. Collin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Ashley Collin of Bristol Tennessee; four daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte Rosenbalm and husband Gary of Bluff City, Peggy Stout and husband Earnest of Bristol Tennessee, Christine Curtis and husband Earl of Bristol Tennessee, and Kay Hicks and husband Jim of Bristol Tennessee; one son, Kenny Collin Sr. of Bristol Tennessee; one sister, June Cresong of New Johnsonville, Tenn.; two brothers, Tom Collins of Bristol Virginia, and Jack Collins of Abingdon; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Friday, March 7, 2003, at 08 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Stout, Rev. Raymond Burkett and Rev. Stan Anderson officiating. Graveside service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the East Hill Cemetery with military honors to be rendered by Patton-Crosswhite VFW Post 6975. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Christopher W. Curtis, Randy Rosenbalm, Kenny Collin Jr., Christopher Collin, Kathy Weeks, Carl Hazen Collin and Eddie Weeks. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Michael Barron and Kenny Collin III. The family would like to say a special thanks to the Bristol Regional Medical Center, Dr. Kitts and staff of the emergency room, Intermediate Unite staff, 4 West staff, Dr. Barron and Dr. Donald Quinn.
