Sarah married David L. Garrison.

Times-Leader Feb 21, 1935 Sarah J Garrison daughter of James and Martha Turner was born June 4, 1841, in Wayne County, Illinois and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Monroe on Feb. 12, 1935, at the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 8 days. She was married on January 2, 1861 to David Garrison. To this union six children were born as follows: Martha who died at the age of 14 years, Andrew, who died May 8, 1929, Elizabeth Monroe of Garrison, Ill., Emmer who died at the age of 18 months, Eda Ledford, and Gregg Garrison of Garrison, Ill. Her husband, David Garrison, preceded her in death on July 20, 1921. Besides those above mentioned, she leaves one brother, William Turner of Mt. Vernon Ill, now past 91 years old, also 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, besides many other relatives and a host of friends to mourn her departure. Uncle Dave and Aunt Sarah, as they were commonly called were among the oldest settlers in the community in which they lived on one farm their entire married life of over sixty years. Aunt Sarah's passing is the last and oldest person in that part of Crouch Township. After Uncle Dave's passing, she made her home among her children who all lived within a mile of the old home. They were so thoughtful of her welfare, inasmuch as she was not able to do much in her last days. The children saw that her wants were all supplied and tried to make life pleasant for her when she was in their homes. Aunt Sarah was a Christian woman and mother, attending church as long as she was able. She and Uncle Dave were converted under an old pioneer preacher, Rev. John B. Smith, at old Ellis Mound Church, or which they were life-long members, and most of their children are also members of the same church. Aunt Sarah was of a quiet unassuming disposition, a good neighbor and a pleasant conversationalist. Her home church and her family were her uppermost thoughts in life. Aunt Sarah is not dead, just gone away to live with Jesus and her loved ones that have gone on into that haven of rest, where there is no more sorrow and trouble. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hulbert Perry at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Monroe. Interment at Garrison Cemetery. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Garrison, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Garrison, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Garrison, Ms. James Garrison of Peoria, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Garrison, Otis Wageneck and family, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Wageneck, Onie Perry, all of St. Louis, Mr. and Mrs. David Osborn, and Mrs. Williams of West Frankfort, Earnest Garrison and two boyfriends of Chicago, Joe Monroe and family of Sims, David Garrison and wife, King Turner, Waller Rose and Family of Fairfield, Jack Thomason.
