Born in "Broad Oak" Llangathen, Carmarthenshire. Emigrated to USA 1868, naturalised in 1883.
Married Edith Clark about 1876 in Philadelphia, and they had one daughter, Emma born 1875 and died aged 4 years 8 months of Scarlet fever. They also had one son Joseph David Ambrose(1878 -1893)

Occupation - stairbuilder.

Cause of death - while delirious he either jumped or fell from a third floor window at his home and died a few hours later from head injuries.
