Mrs. John Cook, 84, died at the Davis Rest home, Hermon Sunday morning. Mrs. Cook with her husband had been guests there about two years. She had been in failing health for some time but was confined to her bed about two weeks.
Funeral services were held at the Sprague funeral home in Gouverneur Tuesday, May 18, at 1:30pm with the Rev. Frank Brown of Rensselaer Falls Methodist church officiating. Burial was made in Hailesboro cemetery.
Mrs. Cook, a daughter of Charles and Harriet Stone Minnick, was born in the town of Fowler Feb 23, 1870. On March 6, 1886 she was married to John Cook by the Rev. Dempster Chase, then pastor of the Gouverneur Methodist Church.
One daughter and three sons were born to them. Mrs. David Harmer (Cora) who died in Russell Feb 4, 1923 and Floyd who accidentally drowned in Grasse River near Richville at the age of three.
Survivors are her husband, John Cook, 98, a guest in Davis Rest Home, Hermon; two sons, Harley of Canton and Vernon of Hermon; 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cook was a member of West Hermon Methodist Church.
