Karen Elaine Stacy Swatosh, age 61, of Lamar, passed away Monday, May 26, 2008, at the home of her daughter in Raymore, Mo. Karen was born Sept. 26, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo., to Jim and Vivian (Gardner) Strohm. She moved to Carthage in 1979, and had lived in Lamar for the past 16 years. Many will remember Karen as an efficient, cheerful waitress at the Blue Top Café. When her health prevented her from working outside the home, she remained active as a loving caregiver for her grandchildren. She was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Steven and wife, Dixie Swatosh and Matthew and wife, Stacie Swatosh, all of Lamar; two daughters, Angie Davis, Raymore, and Cindy and husband, Tracy Boggs, Joplin; a sister, Linda Welty, Lee's Summit; 15 grandchildren, Ishia, Leslie, Wade, Michael, Rachel, Danny, Greg, Zach, Cody, Tara, Blane, Tessa, Brayden, Tabitha and Madalyn; and two great-grandchildren, Mellany and Adrian. The family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m. Friday at Daniel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Lamar United Methodist Church with burial in Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association, in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
