Elisabeth's first husband was Gallus Fink (1774-1838), who died in Germany. Her second husband was Josef Mueller (Joseph Miller), who she married in 1840 in Futzen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Josef, who was born in 1817 in Germany, was more than 20 years her junior. She and Joseph immigrated with her two sons in 1848 to the United States, and they then came west in 1849 with a wagon train to Placerville, where they settled. She and Joseph in 1856 opened a livery stable in Grizzly Flats, which they operated together until her 1870 death. Joseph, who was also the postmaster of Newtown, continued to operate this stable by himself until 1872, when it burned down. Joseph later relocated to the Sportsman Hall, which is located in modern Pollack Pines, on the northeast side of Placerville. The last known mention of him is in the 1892 Voters Registration list for Placerville.
