Sarah, age 13, crossed the Plains to California in 1849 with her parents, Samuel and Sarah Smith and three siblings.
1850 Census finds the Smith family at Cache Creek, Yolo, Caifornia; Thompson, 19; Sarah, 15; William, 11; and Catharine, 7. Samuel is a farmer.
1854 the Smith family moves to Linn County, Oregon.
On March 16, 1858 in Linn County, Sarah marries Thomas David Crockett.
1860 Census shows Thomas and Sarah Crockett with 1 yr old, John, at Forest Grove, Washington Co., Or.; along with her aged parents, Samuel and Sarah, both 64.
