Dennis J. Koehler, 50, of Shawnee, Kan., passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital. A Celebration of his life will be 7 p.m. Friday, May 23, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N 94th St., Kansas City, Kan. Committal services will commence from the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday, in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family requests contributions be made to the American Stroke Foundation, 5960 Dearborn, Suite 100, Mission, KS 66202. Dennis was born August 5, 1957, in Kansas City, Kan., and he was a lifelong area resident. Dennis was a mail clerk at Associated Wholesale Grocers for the last 32 years. He was an Eagle Scout of Troop #144. In his recreational time, Dennis enjoyed visiting Las Vegas each year. Other hobbies include working with leather and crafts, gardening and cooking. Dennis was preceded by his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Donna Ardison, of 30 years; his parents, James and Wilma (Roudebush) Koehler; children Danielle Browning (Ryan), Lenexa, Kan., Donald Ardison (Laura), Kansas City, Mo.; siblings Denise Fanning (Kevin), Basehor, Kan., Greg Koehler (Yvette), Shawnee, Kan., Debbie Betterton (Mike), Colorado Springs, Colo., Paul Koehler (Ani), Irvine, Calif., and Steven Koehler, Kansas City, Kan.; grandchildren: Ian, Alexandria, Michaela, Mason, Allyson, and Donald; four nephews, five nieces, one great nephew and one great niece.
