HANFORD -
Services for Fern E Arrowood, 896, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Whitehurst McNamara Chappel. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Acacia Cemetery in Modesto.
Mrs. Arrowood died Saturday, She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her two daughters, Mary Krause of Mexico and Edith Henderson of Hanford; a sister, Edith Barcomb of Missouri; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grand-children.
Remembrances may be sent to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program Center.

Fern Arrowood

Fern Arrowood, 86 who had been very active in senior citizen activities before and since her arrival in Hanford eight years ago, died Saturday in a Hanford hospital.

Born in Nebraska, she was a homemaker and a member of glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.

She was a member of electa chapter of Eastern Star in Modesto and Lucerne chapter Eastern Star in Hanford, and the Modesto Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary No. 3199. She had been a member of the American Association of Retired Persons in springfield, Mo., served as volunteer coordinator of nutrition sites in springfield and became acive in the AARP in Hanford as well. She was influential in establishing the Hanford Senior drop-in center and served as a hostess there from its founding in 1980 until 1986. When her health became too frail to serve there, she helped at the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) office.

Surviving are two daughters, mary Krause of Mexico and Edith Henderson of Hanford; a sister, Edith harcomb of Missouri; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Whitehurst-McNamara Colonial Chapel, with graveside rites to be conducted at the Acacia Cemetery in Modesto at 3 p.m. that day.

The family suggests that any remembrances be sent to the RSVP center in Hanford.
