SAFFORD- Funeral services for Charles Martin Layton, 77, former postmaster here, will be held at 3:30 p.m. tommorrow at the Safford Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Burial will be in the Thatcher Cemetery with graveside rite conducted by Elks Lodge 1607.
Mr Layton died Friday at Safford Inn Hospital. A 69-year resident of the state, he moved here from Layton, Utah. He was graduated from Gila Academy and lived in Safford for the past 50 years.
During his lifetime Mr. Layton served as Graham County Treasurer and clerk of the county's board of supervivors.
He was a charter member of the Safford Elks Club and it's first treasurer.
Surviving are his wife, Iva; a brother, Owen W., of Tempe, and two sisters, Mrs. Ione Curtis, of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Vergie Lee, of Thatcher.
